L’Usine à Asnières, peinte par Vincent van Gogh en 1887, représente une usine de verre dans la banlieue industrielle parisienne d’Asnières. Son chemin usé est bordé de formes de verre arrondies en attente dans le four, à côté de bas bâtiments d’atelier, d’un hangar au toit rouge et d’une cheminée solitaire dégageant une fumée dans un ciel vert pâle. Van Gogh a composé le ciel et les toits de courts traits hachurés qui font écho aux expérimentations divisionnistes de Georges Seurat et de Paul Signac alors en vogue à Paris, tout en conservant la franchise expressive qui lui était propre. Un sujet inhabituel et chargé de sens historique au sein d’une œuvre par ailleurs dominée par les paysages ruraux.
